We are an organization that embraces knowledge, creativity, and individuality. We want prospective members to have an expectation of greatness from our organization and from themselves, as well as a vision for the advancement of our chapter. With each new member comes new inspiration, and new ideas and challenges to help us all grow in Sigma and make the most of our sisterhood.
We encourage you to not only learn all you can about Sigma Gamma Rho, but to understand the depth of history of all Black Greek Lettered Organizations. Find out how you identify with our organization--or for that matter, how you don't--so that you can make an informed decision as to whether this sisterhood is right for you. No one, NO ONE can tell you that but you!
New members are accepted on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A woman may be admitted for membership in an undergraduate chapter only while in attendance at a four-year college or university, or in a liberal arts/transfer program of a junior or community college, once they submit proof of intention to enter and obtain a degree from a four-year school. Candidates may be accepted for undergraduate membership after successfully completing one quarter, semester, or trimester. The cumulative grade point average required for membership on a national level is 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), but may be altered according to individual chapter requirements.
To assure the most well rounded research into all aspects of Greek life, attend Greek events--everything from service projects to step shows, have questions at informational sessions, and get to know the members of the organization--more specifically, the members of the chapter you wish to join.
We are a working organization and want you to be sure that you are entering into an environment in which you can be productive and flourish as an active member. Remember, this is no mere membership...it is a life commitment.
